We and Thy Cornerstone

We claim that we of family seed
Have risen from our deed
And claim that we have never heard
The Voice behind the Creed;
The Voice behind the Word.

We drown You out when we're alone
We crush the very bone

Of those that claim that they have seen
Beyond our earthly tone;
Beyond our earthly screen.

What do we fear when we draw near
The edge of Truth so dear...

That we will find an empty bier
Beside a cruel cashier;

With deaf and heartless ear?

It's fear of cancer that we dread
That drags us to our bed.
O' yes we shun the very One
That heals to raise the dead;
That heals to raise us One.

We draw the drapes, but all escapes
In misbegotten shapes.
None passes by that Loving Eye
You haven't strained with grapes;
You haven't claimed to buy.

O' man has fainted from the first
In anguish and in thirst
And tries to plead that he must bleed
Before he can be nurst;
Before he can be freed.

Before the spawn of life's Whirlpool
Before Thy grand Footstool
We in Thy Heart were surely borne;
We and Thy Cornerstone.
