In
the Heart of Every Cop
I
saw the headlines tonight
And I saw you there
With your head hung low
And I wanted so to speak.
I wanted to say
My darling, my sweet
I' am sorry, but I had to go.
I tried to hang on
But the shadow was gone:
Just a bright and beaming
Light.
And it beckoned me
And it summoned me
And I just couldn't say no!
So forgive me my love
For you know I am true
And I love you all the while
But the Drummer has Drummed
And you know that it hums
In the heart of every cop.

The
meaning behind the poem;
And I will speak simple language:
A cop is a special person.
He is not the average Joe or Mary
That walks the paths and streets in this world.
Save our dear veterans and the men
And women in the armed forces.
Although he marries, raises children
And has the heart that forever
Loves his own family,
He has a Higher Calling
That is devoted to all families.
That is what is in the heart of every good cop.
Desire, determination and dedication
For the Good of all.
The
shadow:
His shadow (body) is gone as he is now in Spirit only.
The Drummer
Is the Voice of God that beats in his heart.
The Light is God.
