The Beauty of a Rose
I pondered on the beauty of a rose.
And wondered still, the leaf, the thorn, the pose;
All introduced at once, perfumery
That hung upon the air invisibly.
And I imagine that in that sweet round face
Continually sighs the scent of Heaven's Grace;
And that Wisdom of Eternity encased
The Breath of Love that breathed upon that place.

How Great Thou Art
1886
Oh
Lord my God!
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds
Thy hands have made;
I see the stars,
I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy Pow'r throughout
The universe displayed,
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God to Thee:
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God to Thee:
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art.
And when I think that God,
His son not sparing
Sent Him to die,
I scarce can take it in
That on the cross
My burden gladly bearing
He bled and died
To take away my sin.
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God to Thee:
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God to Thee:
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art.
When Christ shall come
With shout of acclamation
And take me home,
What joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim
My God how great thou art.
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God to Thee:
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God to Thee:
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art.
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art.
